Uffffff, what a Doctor.!! First things first. Went to her office at North Miami Beach, did not have to wait much, the staff is Super Great and Super nice, X Rays were on the go even before seeing the doctor, they do this because I already put what was going on with me on a sheet of paper, so why bother again. After X Rays a Doctor did a Pre Observation and then she came in. I honestly thought I need it surgery of a Spur on my right foot, but she said "Negative" what you need is a boot. Done

I waited yrs for a ankle replacement. It appeared that in the last 5 yrs it was a viable option. Then I needed to find the right surgeon. Dr. Deben came highly recommended. I have seen several specialist through the yrs was not impressed with any of them until I met Dr.Deben. She was the only one that said unless we fix the foundation (foot) anything you put on it will fail. Well after reconstruction of my foot then a brand new ankle , I have a new lease on life.i was up and walking after 2 months non weight -baring . The ankle is great. Im glad I waited for the right surgeon. I highly recommend Dr.Deben.

I've been a dancer my whole life and 15 years ago I suffered from an ankle injury that prevented me from dancing. After that injury, I would have pain and swelling that would come and go but never go away completely. I visited several orthopedic specialists (many of which worked directly with dancers) and I did every treatment possible, from using a casket to therapy, without having a positive outcome. Two years ago the pain and swelling became worse than ever and it prevented me from performing any type of exercise. I then had the good fortune of meeting Dr. Deben who accurately diagnosed that I needed surgery and told me that after a few months of recovery and therapy I would be able to go back to do what I love. I've been in Dr. Deben's care since April, 2014. Treated for bone fractures in my ankle, which bones healed fine, but complications with wound, etc. She has gone above and beyond her doctor/patient duty, and if it wasn't for her I would not be alive today. The staff who represent the office are incredible. I never thought I would be able to walk normally again, let alone rock climb and put weight on what I used to call “my bad leg”. I have been spraining my ankles since childhood. As I aged I was on crutches at least once a year because of my ankles. When I got into my 40's, I felt I was constantly walking on a sprained ankle. When I lived in New Mexico, I saw a specialist and they made leg braces for me which I wore for many years.

As I saw more doctors, I was only being offered ankle fusions. I did not want to lose the motion of my ankle or mobility of my leg. I like to hike and do outdoor activities. So I just sufffered. I used a scooter at work and could barely walk.

When I moved to Florida after retirement, a friend recommended Dr. Sophia Deben for a total ankle replacement. After six specialists, she was the only one that said " if you don't fix the foundation, the ankle replacement will fail ." My feet had been flat all my life and looked like pancakes.

She offered me a total ankle replacement as a two-part surgery. The first part to fix my flatfoot. The second to put in the total ankle replacement. I do not even notice I have an artificial ankle. It's superb. I have a new lease on life. I have no pain. I recently travelled to Arctic to see the Northern Lights. My ankle did not give me any trouble at all. She has gone on to fix my left foot as well. I am able to walk because of Dr. Deben.

I cannot recommend her enough. She is a wonderful person and a great surgeon. She is always available to take my calls and see me when I need. And my feet are great!

I developed a very pain and debilitating case of tendinitis in my ankle one week before I was schedule to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Dr. Deben provided me with a treatment plan that had me out of a walking boot 3 days before my climb and on top of the mountain 4 days later.
